If a weekend full of NFL playoff football and a full-slate of college basketball wasn’t enough for you, #6 Kansas (10-3, 4-2) will travel to take on #2 Baylor (12-0, 5-0). The Jayhawks will need to bounce back quickly after losing to Oklahoma State 75-70.
Baylor is undefeated and coming off their best win of the season over Texas Tech 68-60. The eight point victory was the closest margin of victory in the Bears’ 12 wins.
Kansas Betting Preview
Kansas fans have become so accustomed to greatness that a 10-3 start and a top 10 ranking just are not good enough. This Jayhawks team has no bad losses but lacks the star power that is usually associated with a Bill Self team.
Ochai Agbaji leads Kansas in scoring at 14.7 points per game. Agbaji is shooting 42.7% from three-point range.
Freshman Jalen Wilson is second on the team in scoring (13.8) and leads the team in rebounds at 7.8 per game. Wilson is going to be a star, but still needs another year to truly develop into the game changer he can be.
Kansas is ranked 15th by Kenpom. The offense is ranked 23rd in efficiency and the defense is ranked 10th.
Baylor Betting Preview
Baylor got their second premier win of the year on Saturday over Texas Tech. The Bears defeated Illinois earlier in the year on a neutral court. Baylor will be looking for another top 25 victory tonight against Kansas.
The Bears are led by Jared Butler in scoring at 15.6 points per game. Butler is shooting 41.5% from behind the arc and is second on the team in assists behind Davion Mitchell, as he averages 5.2 per contest.
Macio Teague is second on the team averaging 15.3 points per game. Mitchell is also averaging double figures at 12.1 per game and leads the team with 5.9 assist per game as is shooting 42% from three-point range.
Baylor is ranked second overall by Kenpom. The offense is fourth in efficiency while the defense is ranked first in the nation.
My bookie has Baylor as a 9-point favorite. The total is set at 141 points.

Not too often you get to see Kansas as a 9-point underdog, but that tells you just how good this Baylor team is. Baylor is not overly big, but David McCormack has not been playing well enough for Kansas to exploit the Bears only real weakness.
Wilson and McCormack will need to lead a huge rebounding advantage for Kansas to have any chance in this one. The Jayhawks are not a great shooting team and there won’t be many open looks against this tenacious Baylor defense.
Baylor is not a great defensive rebounding team, so Wilson can get some second chance points to keep it close for a while. But Butler, Teague and Mitchell will be too much for Kansas to handle as Baylor continues their dominance of the Big 12.
