A Cardinals Clunker
Louisville turned in a clunker at Miami as it fell behind while making just three of 20 shots from 3-point range for a miserable 15.0%.
The Cardinals shot four airballs as Miami took a 25-12 lead and they were still down 33-21 at half. Though Louisville cut the gap to four points, it could not stop the Hurricanes from ending an 18-game losing streak against ranked teams.
As usual, senior guard Carlik Jones led Louisville with a season-high 25 points. The graduate transfer from Radford is having an outstanding season as he is averaging 18.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.3 steals a game.

Freshman forward Jae’Lyn Withers had one of his best game with 18 points and 11 rebounds. It was the fourth time Withers reached double figures in points this season, including twice in the last three games. He has averages of 10.2 points and 7.2 rebounds.
Sophomore guard David Johnson is averaging 12.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists but has been slumping lately. He scored just five points against Miami after also being held to five by Wake Forest in the previous game.
Yet Johnson could be taken in this year’s NBA Draft.

Louisville is finally back home following a stretch of four road games in five games because of the pandemic-affected schedule. The Cardinals had not had a stretch like that since 1994-95 when they were playing in the old Metro Conference.
This is the start of three straight games at home, where Louisville is 6-0 this season.
Walker Leading The Way
Senior guard M.J. Walker scored 20 points to lead Florida State to an 82-75 home victory over North Carolina on Saturday as a four-point favorite.
Walker connected on four of five 3-point field goal attempts despite sitting out part of the second half after rolling an ankle. Florida State shot 50% on 3s, connecting on eight of 16 attempts, and made 26 of 27 free throws for a smoking 96.3%.
The Seminoles have been led all season by Walker, who is scoring a team-best 16.3 points a game. He also has a 66.4 true shooting percentage and is knocking down 92% of his foul shots.

The only other Florida State player scoring in double figures is freshman guard Scottie Barnes. However, he is questionable after missing Saturday’s game with a sprained ankle.
Barnes, who could be a one and done, is averaging 11.1 points, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals. He also has a 34.1 assist rate.
Junior forward Raiquan Gray came up big in Barnes’ absence against North Carolina with a career-high 19 points, including a three-point play and two free throws in the final moments as Florida State held on. Gray had scored in double digits just twice in eight games this season.

Florida State also got 10 points each from senior guard Rayquan Evans, sophomore center Balsa Koprivica and junior forward Malike Osborne.
FSU Coming Off Sweep
Florida State has won three straight games against Louisville, including twice last season. The Seminoles pulled a 78-65 upset at Louisville as a 6.5-point underdog then notched an 82-67 victory as a three-point favorite.
Walker had 23 points in 28 minutes off the bench in the first game then scored 12 points in the second game as a starter.
This is a tough one to call. Walker, though, has been a tough matchup for Louisville and figures to shine again.
Pick: Florida State +1.5 (-104)
