PARTY ISLAND has a wide-draw to overcome but he’s been in fine form this year, winning once and placing three times from his last five outings and will return to the AW from a 5Ib lower mark than when third on the turf last time out. He remains unexposed on this surface, so he has to enter calculations.

Course specialist TAKEONEFORTHETEAM has to carry top-weight but he’s a four-time winner over track and trip and despite having to carry a penalty, he’s certainly capable of making his presence felt again from a handy draw in stall 6.

RECEURDAME is another to have been in good form this year, winning three of his last five and won much easier than the margin suggested at Wolverhampton when last seen. He’s only up 2Ib for that success and a good draw to contend with on this occasion. In conclusion, he has C&D winning form and with Adam Kirby’s presence in the saddle, he’s of definite interest.

14.20 – Unibet/Breeders Backing Racing EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes – 1m

PERFECT INCH is a decent filly, though, she was slightly underwhelming when second over C&D last time out. That looked a missed opportunity at first glance, but she does set the standard based on official ratings and that should see her heavily involved at the business end of the race under the champ, Oisin Murphy.

Selections: PERFECT INCH

14.55 – Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap – 1m

The majority of these have to come into the equation but LIGHTS ON could have the most potential and finished well clear of the rest when narrowly beaten on handicap debut at Musselburgh last month. She goes up 5Ib as a result, but remains on an attractive mark.

George Baker’s MANTON GRANGE likes it here with form figures at this level at the track reading 1, 2, 1. His mark remains exploitable given he’s won at the track off a 1Ib higher mark in the past and has only been put up 4Ib by the assessor for winning a shade smoothly here last time out. He’s drawn fairly well in stall 9 and looks the standout bet for a top-three finish.

Of the rest, HEXAGON hasn’t been seen to best effect the last twice, but he’s well treated judging his form from last year and the return to this track over a more suitable trip could see him in better light, so he’s no forlorn hope despite looking an outsider on paper.

15.30 – Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap – 1m

This looks a decent contest and I’m keen on one of the outsiders to run a big race. KWELA was last seen running poorly but she’ll be much more suited to this race given her form at this track reads an excellent 3, 1, 1, 2 and 3 from five outings. She finished a good third on her most recent start here from just a 1Ib lower mark in a higher graded race and has class 2-winning form to her name, so she’s surely worth a chance in hope that she’ll rediscover her best form back at her favourite venue.

Of the others. ONE SMALL STEP looks a progressive filly having demonstrated a lot of promise in all her performances thus far. She kept on nicely to finish fourth in a stronger race than this last time out and the return to one-mile at this venue should see her bang on the premises. William Buick is also a positive jockey booking.

Mark Johnston’s FRED will make his debut at the track and based on his turf form, his mark of 82 looks quite lenient given the fact that he’s generally been competing in better company than this of late. He’s drawn nicely in stall 8, and if able to replicate his turf form to this surface, he should be thereabouts.

16.05 – British EBF Future Stayers Maiden Stakes – 7f

Clive Cox’s ARATUS should have learnt plenty from his eye-catching debut second at Newbury and with improvement on the cards highly likely, he’s the one to beat.

Archie Watson’s team are in terrific form of late, so his sole runner on the track ACTION HERO has to be respected. He finished an excellent third on debut and surely has more to offer.

Of the newcomers, Roger Varian’s George Bancroft is bred to be useful. It is not hard to imagine him needing this run but he is something of an unknown quantity and is worth a second look.

16.35 – Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Floodlit Stakes – 1m3f

Charlie Appleby’s LOXLEY disappointed on his return to UK soil at Newmarket when last seen but he’s a massive player if back to the level which saw him finish second in this last year to the 115-rated Young Rascal. He’s a former Group Two winner, so he’ll find this far less demanding then often would be the case with proven form over track and trip.

An interesting addition to the race is KIRSTENBOSCH, who finished a creditable second behind Enable here last time out and although she was probably flattered by the bare-margin, she was ridden well by James Doyle that day and a similar performance tomorrow dropping down in class would be good enough form to see him take this prize.
