The Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns meet Saturday night in some NBA action at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Phoenix Suns are looking for a win after dropping a tough one on Friday night. On the season the Suns are averaging 109.8 points per game on 47.1 percent shooting from the field. Defensively the Suns are allowing 102.4 points per game on 45.9 percent shooting.
The Indiana Pacers are looking for another statement win to build on their (6-2) start to the season. Offensively the Pacers are averaging 114.8 points per game on 49 percent shooting. On the other end of the ball, they are giving up 108 points per game on 46.2 percent shooting.
Phoenix Suns Preview: Exceeding expectations early on
Phoenix has an impressive young core they continue to build around in all-star Devin Booker and the big man in the middle Deandre Ayton. Booker’s numbers are down a bit this season since acquiring 10-time all-star Chris Paull, but he is still averaging 21.5 points per game and 4.6 assists per game. Ayton is contributing 13.4 points 11.4 rebounds on 58.4 percent shooting.
After barely missing out on the playoffs last season with their spectacular play late in the bubble, the Suns seem destined to reach the postseason this year. Phoenix has won six of their first eight before dropping game nine on the road in Motor City to the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. It was a tale of two halves for the Suns as turnovers and missed threes were the story of the game.
Indiana Pacers Preview: Needed win before a trip out West
The Pacers are working to record a three-game win streak for the second time this season, and the Suns will be trying for their first win in Indiana since 2016. For the Pacers, this would be a nice statement win before heading on the road for a five game set against Western Conference teams.
Malcolm Brogdon has been fueling the Pacers early-season success. Brogdon is playing at an all-star level turning in career-high performances in each of his last two games. On the season Brogdon leads the team in points at 23.6 and assists 7.0. Over his last three games, Brogdon is averaging 29.7 points and 8.3 assists while shooting 60% from three (15-25). Brogdon will look to continue to light up the scoreboard on Saturday night.
Pacers vs Suns Betting Odds & Pick
Indiana has looked great early on. The Pacers are tenth in offense and ninth in defense. They join a select few teams as only four teams are in the top 10 for both. The Suns are also included on that list but have a tough draw in the second game of a back to back that saw them lose in overtime.
The Pacers allow the least amount of three point shots in the league by design. Running off the three point line has hurt them in attempts at or around the basket. The Pacers rank 25th in opposing points in the paint and free throw rate. Even starting two true modern day bigs, the Pacers rank last in the league in rebounds per game. Expect a big night for Deandre Ayton and the Suns forwards.
Mybookie has the Pacers at -3 home favorites. Pacers are a team many have been high on since the season started and have the rest advantage. Suns are coming off a bad overtime loss, and we should see some tired legs out there. The Suns have more star power but the Pacers are the more sound team.
