Baylor finally gets to open their season at home against Kansas. The Bears season opener against Louisiana Tech was cancelled due to an outbreak on the Louisiana Tech team. The next week’s game against Houston, which was scheduled to replace the Louisiana Tech game, had to be cancelled when Baylor had an outbreak causing them to fall below the threshold the Big 12 set.
The Jayhawks wish that their season opener was cancelled. They lost 38-23 to Coastal Carolina as Les Miles second season got off to a shaky start.
Kansas Looks to Hit Reset Button
The Jayhawks are ready to turn the page and forget about the season opener. Miles Kendrick will start under center after a 15 of 24 performance for 156 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
The run game will use a committee approach. Velton Gardner and Pooka Williams Jr. combined for 148 yards on 23 carries with Gardner running for a touchdown.
Kwamiee Lassiter II and Andrew Parchment each had 5 catches and a touchdown. Only five Kansas players caught a pass in the loss.
The defense did not give up many yards, 318 total, but the 28 first half points were too much to overcome. They did limit the Chanticleers to only 133 yards in the air.
Baylor to Debut New Coach
After leading the Baylor program to new heights Matt Rhule left for the NFL. Dave Aranda will make his long anticipated debut as the head coach, after helping lead LSU to the national title as defensive coordinator.
Charlie Brewer will bring a familiar face at quarterback for the Bears. Brewer threw for over 3,000 yards last season on 251 of 389 passing with 21 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
The Bears defense was one of the best in the nation last season. They ranked top 20 in points allowed and top 10 in both sacks and turnovers. This will be a different group but they should still have enough talent to keep this Kansas team from doing much on offense.
Wildcats/Sooners Betting Lines

This Kansas team is bad. While it will be interesting to see how Baylor plays after the missed practice time and cancelled games, they have a much better squad than the Jayhawks. I like both Baylor -17.5 and the under 61 in this one.
Kansas 13, Baylor 34
Free Pick: Baylor -17.5 and under 61
