NFL Betting Preview: New York Jets vs. Los Angeles Chargers – Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020

The New York Jets take on the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium this Sunday. The Jets are winless on the 2020 season, while the Chargers lost another close game this past Sunday to the Miami Dolphins. MyBookie has the Chargers as 9.5 point favorites.

New York Jets Betting Preview: Could This be the Week?

The New York Jets come into play with a record of 0-9, 6.5 games behind the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East. The Jets are coming off of their bye week after nearly pulling out their first win against the New England Patriots on November 9th.

In that game, quarterback Joe Flacco, playing in place of the injured Sam Darnold, completed 18 of 25 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jets ran 32 fewer plays than the Patriots but were in the game until the final whistle. New York needs to find an answer to the running game woes. They rushed for just 65 yards for the entire game. Wide receiver Breshad Perriman had a nice game, catching five passes for 101 yards and two scores.

On the season, Flacco has played in four games, completing 59% of his passes. He has thrown four touchdowns and been intercepted twice.

Frank Gore leads the team in rushing with 386 yards on 108 carries. He has not reached the end zone this season. Jamison Crowder leads the team in receiving yards with 409 on 31 catches.

Los Angeles Chargers Betting Preview: Keep Playing Well

The Los Angeles Chargers come into play with a record of 2-7, but that record does not reflect how well the Chargers have played. They have lost each of their games this season by a touchdown or less. One or two plays go their way, and they are talking about the playoffs in Los Angeles.

In their game last week, they fell to the Miami Dolphins, 29-21. The game was close until the fourth quarter, when the Dolphins rattled off ten unanswered points before the Chargers’ comeback attempt ran out of time.

Quarterback Justin Herbert completed 20 of 32 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns. That was the first time this season that Herbert had not thrown for at least 250 yards in a game.

Running back Kalen Ballage did the bulk of the running, gaining 68 yards on 18 carries. Keenan Allen led the team in receiving but caught only three balls for 38 yards and a touchdown.

On the season, Herbert has been excellent. He has completed 67% of his passes for 2,333 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Injuries have hampered the Los Angeles backfield all season long. Josh Kelley has played in every game thus far and has gained 313 yards on 98 carries. He has hit the end zone once. Allen leads the receiving corps with 65 catches for 690 yards and five touchdowns.

Jets at Chargers Betting Odds & Lines

MyBookie has the Chargers favored by 9.5 points. This is a game to make a statement for the Chargers.

They can prove they belong with the better teams of the league, or this could be a trap game, and they could be on the wrong side of history. I think the Chargers are going to win, but 9.5 points is a large spread.

The Jets will make it a touchdown game. Take New York to cover in this one.
