The new-look (in uniform only) L-A Rams take the cross-country trip to Philadelphia for the Eagles’ home opener in Week 2. Normally, the Philly faithful would be rocking Lincoln Financial Field, but Covid-19 safety precautions are still preventing large gatherings in the City of Brotherly Love. That certainly could be a detriment to the Birds, but it may also be a blessing if the home team gets off to a slow start.
Built Ram Tough
The Rams christened their brand-new $5 billion Sofi Stadium with a hard-fought 20-17 win over the Cowboys on Sunday night in Week 1. They’ll become very familiar with the NFC East to start the season, as they’ll face each team from the division within the first 5 games of the year, continuing with the Eagles up next.
L-A was a short favorite last week, covering the spread with the 3-point win, led by Malcolm Brown’s two touchdowns and 105 receiving yards from Robert Woods. Their run/pass ratio surprised many, as the normally high-octane offense ran the ball 40 times, compared to just 20 passes.
The short-handed Eagles left Washington in Week 1 with a disappointing loss to a team that many thought were still searching for an identity, let alone a new team name. Philly held a 17-0 lead at one point, but it evaporated and resulted in Washington winning 27-17.
The Eagles were missing key pieces in the season opener, as names like Miles Sanders, Lane Johnson, Javon Hargrave, Brandon Brooks, Derek Barnett and Alshon Jeffery all missed the game, while Brandon Graham and Desean Jackson also got banged up.
Rams/Eagles Betting Lines
MyBookie has the line for this Week 2 clash at Rams -1 and an over/under of 46. Prior to the season, the Eagles were 3-point favorites in most books, but the adjustment is certainly warranted after the Eagles failed to cover (6-point favorites at Washington), let alone win their opener.

The Rams D stifled a potent-on-paper Dallas offense and stuck to their guns on the ground. The Eagles should at least get Sanders and Johnson back for this one, which will help Carson Wentz tremendously. L-A has to play four out of their next five on the road, flying cross country three times, but it may be too early for that to have an effect yet.
It’s hard to see the Eagles dropping their first two games, but the value here may be on the total, thanks to injuries to the Birds’ D and key players returning to the offense.
